Activities At A Glance

Department of Mathematics is one of the oldest departments in the college. Right from the inception, it has been engaged in providing qualitative education to the students. Mathematics is the key subject of all branches. The objective of the department is to make the students well versed with the basics of mathematics and apply them in different situations. The department caters to the needs of students of various streams viz. Arts, Science and Commerce at undergraduate level. M.Sc. Mathematics was also initiated in the year 2008, and is running successfully. The greatest strength of the department is experienced and strongly motivated faculty members who constantly update themselves by attending various seminars and conferences and try their best to maintain this department in the best state. There are fully equipped computer laboratories accessible to the students where they learn various computational techniques. The college library along with quality books of the subject, journals are also available for faculty and students access. Departmental library is also maintained in addition to the central library to assist the financially weak students.

06.06.2020: A National Level Webinar was organized. Prof (Dr.) Ram Parkash Sharma, Department of Mathematics, H.P.U, Shimla was the keynote speaker. 100 Delegates from different Colleges all over the country participated in this Webinar.

22^nd December 2020: National Mathematics Day was celebrated. A lecture on “The Mathematics behind Data Transmission” was delivered by Prof. Gurmeet Kaur Bakshi, Department of Mathematics, Punjab University, Chandigarh. Aman of B.Sc. Final Year (Member of Mathematical Association) presented an article on Indian Mathematicians and Sonal of B.Sc. II year presented a poster of Ramanujan and Rangoli.

16-01-2020: Organized National Level Workshop on IBM SPSS Package in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). Near about 130 delegates participated from different colleges across the country. Dr. Suresh Sharma, Department of Statistics, Punjab University, Chandigarh was the Keynote speaker of this workshop.

21-01-2021: The mathematical association organized a Poster making Competition for the students of B.Sc. II year and B.C.A. I year.

23-01-2021: The mathematical association organized a competition for the students of M.Sc. Previous and Final to Present a Seminar on various topics of Mathematics under the guidance of Ms. Mansi and Ms. Komal.

27-01-2021: Mathematical association organized a Slogan writing competition for the students of B.Com. and B.B.A. I Year.

Haryana State-level Mathematics Quiz: Two Teams comprising four students participated in the Preliminary Round of the Haryana State-level Mathematics Quiz Competition organized by the Society for Promotion of Science and Technology in India (SPSTI) on 28/01/2021. Finally, one of our team qualified for the Final round which was conducted on 10/02/2021, and our students Aman (B.Sc. III) and Sagar (B.A. I) bagged third Position.

Session 2019-2020

One day workshop on Abacus & Vedic Mathematics was organised on 27th August, 2019 in collaboration with Indian Institute of Vedic Mathematics and Abacus, New Delhi

A power point presentation competition on “Applications of Different Fields of Mathematics in Life” was organised on 17th September, 2019.

On February 7, 2020 National Level Mathematical Competitions as organised in the college premises.About 175 students from various colleges participated in the competition. In Poster Competition: Babita Rani (Govt. College for Women, Karnal ) got the first prize.Sumesh Kumar (I.B. (P.G.) College,Panipat) got second prize, Shubham (Pt. Chiranjee Lal Sharma, Govt. College, Karnal ) and Amisha Malik ((Desh Bandhu Gupta College, Panipat) got third prize, Deepali Sharma (P.G. Govt. College, Chandigarh) and Jagriti Gaba (Mukund Lal, National College, Yamauna Nagar ) got the Consolation prize.Quiz Competition: Preeti , Sweety, Aman(I.B. (P.G.) College, Panipat) got first prize, Chhavi, Poonam, Mukul, Devi (KVA, D.A.V. College, Karnal) got second prize, Pankaj and Sandeep Kumar(Pt. Chiranjee Lal Sharma, Govt. College, Karnal) got third prize. Mathematical exhibition: Sonal got first and Nurshida and Rinki got second prize. Mathematical Models: Anjali, Parul (Govt. College, Israna) got first position, Ashu (Mukand Lal National College, Yamunanagar) got second position, Bittu, Anurag, Anshul, Shourya (I.B. (P.G.) College,Panipat) got third position, Shilpa , Mannu (Hindu Kanya Mahavidyalaya, Jind),and Ravindra , Deepanshu got consolation prize
