Under the wide ambit of department of Biosciences of our college, the life science streams of Botany, Zoology and Biotechnology are covered. Departments of Botany and Zoology came into existence in 1972, and since has been engaged in preparing the students for in depth and conceptual learning, in getting them understand various future courses of study, and in making them aware of various theoretical and practical aspects of these subjects. The department feels elated to speak of various scholars and distinguished professionals, well settled in India and abroad, which have been produced through all the years of its establishment. In addition to basic subjects Botany and Zoology, the department also started Biotechnology as a vocational subject in 2004, which is an applied and job-oriented professional course. Presently, only under graduate level courses are being taught to the students of B.Sc. (Medical) and B.Sc. (Biotechnology).

The dedication and hard work of the staff is reflected in academic performance of the students, who always make it to the merit list of the Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra. The laboratories are well-equipped with required infrastructural facilities like Microtomes, various types of microscopes like Projection, Binocular and Trinoculars, Ovens, Water Baths, Projectors, Cameras, Electronic Balances, Hot Plates, Centrifuge machines, UV-Visible Spectrophotometers, Distillation Apparatus, Muscle twitch assembly etc. along with a museum, displaying a good collection of preserved Zoological and Botanical specimens.

To inculcate practical understanding to the students, we regularly organize various field tours and excursions, for deeper understanding of living world, including flowering plants, cryptogams, fisheries, zoological parks etc. At least one tour per year is dedicated to local visit to industry and also to agriculture fields. We are also organizing various awareness programmes on latest issues in Science & Technology as well as modern society. These programmes include quiz, poster making, collage, debate and extension lectures by eminent persons of concerned fields. Department always encourages our students to participate in various co-curricular activities organized by many organizations and our College from time to time. The department is maintaining a very rich Departmental Library offering a wide range of around 400 reference books on various domains of biosciences. We are also bringing a good museum, a seed bank and a herbarium in very distant future.
